Dr. Frances Patterson

Located in Hermitage, Tennessee, company owner Dr. Frances Patterson, Ph.D., LADAC, MAC, BCPC, CCJAS, QSAP, QCS is recognized statewide and nationally as an expert in the fields of substance abuse and mental health. Dr. Patterson received her bachelors and masters degrees at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Alcohol and Drug Education Rehabilitation Program and doctorate in Clinical Psychology at California Southern University. In addition to being a licensed alcohol and drug counselor in TN, she is a National Association of Addictions Professionals (NAADAC) certified Masters Addictions Counselor and Qualified Substance Abuse Professional. She also holds a certification as a Criminal Justice Addictions Specialist through the National Association of Forensic Counselors. She is board certified as a professional counselor with the American Psychotherapy Association. 

Dr. Patterson is qualified by the State of TN as a Clinical Supervisor for A&D licensure and serves as an oral examiner for persons seeking TN licensure as an alcohol and drug abuse counselor. She has worked as a counselor and program administrator in treatment programs in Virginia and Tennessee over the past 25 years. She provides program consultation, professional training, clinical supervision and client education. She has conducted professional training locally, statewide and nationally for more than 20 years on addictions, mental health, professional counseling issues, dialogue, cultural proficiency and professional development. She is a Mental Health First Aid Trainer and a Laughter Yoga leader.

She is currently the chair of NAADAC’s clinical issues committee, a member of the ethics committee, is a member of the NAADAC Trainers Academy and a NAADAC approved trainer. She is also past NAADAC SE Region Vice President. Additionally, she is a past president of TAADAC and MTAADAC. In 2005 she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement award by TAADAC and in 2006 she received the Mel Schulstad award, NAADAC’s national Professional of the Year award. She has many years of experience in coalition building, community collaborations, grant writing collaboration and state conference planning. She was the conference chairperson for the MTAADAC statewide conference for 5 years and the chairperson for the 2007 National Journey Together conference when NAADAC joined TN for their annual conference.

Class Instructors
All of the class instructors for the Drug Education and Parents Toolbox classes are experienced professionals with many years of experience in the addictions field. Each brings expertise and professionalism to all those who attend our programs.

   

John S. Edmondson, Instructor

Mr. Edmondson, BS, LADAC, has more than 20 years experience as a substance abuse counselor. He is in private practice and has been an alcohol and drug abuse consultant/contractor for over 10 years.  He maintains professional relationships with many agencies in Montgomery County.  He is a qualified clinical supervisor and with over 60 graduate hours in Psychology, “Mr. John” brings a unique approach to all professional functions via his rich experiences in all aspects of the substance abuse field.

Tracy Chapman, Instructor

Ms. Chapman, MS, is a counselor in Waverly, TN. She has worked for the Department of Children's Services for the past 7 years and has been teaching the First Offender class in Waverly for the past year. She has worked as a court liaison in Humprhreys and Houston counties juvenile courts since 2007 and in Stewart county juvenile court since 2009. She shows caring and understanding in her work with adolescents and their families. Her experience and expertise is demonstrated as she shares information with class participants.
